Family Style is a cross-cultural food festival taking place in Los Angeles on September 15, 2019.The world’s top culinary talent will gather at Television City Studios for one afternoon to collaborate with prominent streetwear brands and artists on one-of-a-kind dishes and limited merchandise.

Why?

FOOD IS THE BEST EXCUSE TO BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER. IRONICALLY, FOOD FESTIVALS ARE UNINVITING.

Food festivals can be boring, snobbish, and exclusive. Food, on the contrary, is fun, communal, and the basis of gathering. The Hundreds champions community and has built a global brand around the notion of being better together. Whether throwing art shows, basketball tournaments, warehouse sales or concerts, we have used clothing to build relationships for 16 years. We now seek to do that through the universal language of food.

How?

Family Style celebrates collaboration between respected chefs/restaurants and popular brands/designers.

In Streetwear, we memorialize relationships as “collaborations.” Our carefully curated list of world-class talent will be creating unique food items and design specialty merchandise together. The event itself is also a collaboration of cultures, merging the “foodie” world with street fashion, contemporary art with music. The festival is open to all ages, all backgrounds, and all interests that are reflective of LA’s diverse makeup.

CHEFS

The world’s top culinary talent will gather at Television City for one afternoon to collaborate with prominent streetwear brands and artists on one-of-a-kind dishes and limited merchandise. From LA food legends like Michael Voltaggio and Jon & Vinny’s to rising stars like Badmaash and Uncle Paulie’s Deli, we’re stacking the kitchen with superstars and inviting everyone to the table.

SCOTT NGHIEM & ANDY NGUYEN / AFTERS

Afters Ice Cream was made as an outlet for creativity through flavors and design. Unique flavors like Milk and Cereal, Cookie Monster and Jasmine Milk Tea fuel the creative kitchen to keep pushing the limits of ice cream flavors.

KEITH GARRETT / ALL FLAVOR NO GREASE

Since his childhood, Keith Garrett has had an eye for entrepreneurship. Born and raised in Watts, CA Keith started his entrepreneurship journey early, creating his own candy business during his years at Gomper Middle School. After graduating as Valedictorian from the Maxine Waters Development Preparation Center, Keith decided to pursue his entrepreneurial pursuits through “street” methods. Since it’s opening AFNG has received tremendous success.

NAKUL & ARJUN MAHENDRO / BADMAASH LA

The Badmaash menu reflects Arjun and Nakul’s father Chef Pawan Mahendro’s odyssey, which took him from Amritsar, India through Toronto, Canada, and finally, Los Angeles. Chef Pawan grew up in the city of Amritsar in the state of Punjab, a region of India known for serving superb food from the street hawkers to the elegant cafes.

Evan Funke is a culinary storyteller, a custodian of Italian tradition and a master of the old world techniques of handmade pasta. Funke’s singular passion as a pasta maker and chef was solidified in Bologna, under the mentorship of Alessandra Spisni at La Vecchia Scuola Bolognese. Felix Trattoria embodies a philosophy of seasonality, warm hospitality and the deeply rooted culinary traditions of regional Italy.

Royce Burke is the Los Angeles based chef and owner of Yarrow, and Secret Lasagna. Royce is a self-taught chef who grew up watching his mother make delicious dishes (he still craves) out of scraps and whatever items they could afford. As the oldest of 7 children Royce learned early to cook for an audience. To this day, Royce seems to make his best dishes when there’s not much around.

PAUL JAMES / UNCLE PAULIE’S

New York native Paul James opened an Italian-American Deli in the Beverly Grove section of Los Angeles. James moved to L.A. in 2015 and struggled to find a traditional East Coast sandwich. With the influx of east coasters migrating west, there seemed to be an obvious void needing to be filled. Uncle Paulie's is quickly filling that void.

We’re working directly with Homeboy Industries and No Kid Hungry at Family Style Food Festival, both on content to raise awareness and product collaborations to raise money for each respective organization. We realize the great responsibility we have in our community to take care of one another, and as we organize this huge event, it isn’t lost on us that many in this city are struggling. We don’t take issues like homelessness, hunger, or violence lightly, and hope to use this event as a platform to do more good and impact lives in Los Angeles.
